It's been 10 days since my last post. When I wrote it, I thought my headache would be gone by now.
It's not..
though it IS much better. :)
Instead of rehashing the bummy headache moments (they've stolen enough of the spotlight), I'd like to share a little tip with any (better known as "ALL") moms who are tired and love a good Calgone moment.
I mean, seriously...
who doesn't!?!
(See how I filtered that? Now I look tan. Mmmhmmm...)
Huh.
Something is missing in this photo. I wonder what it is?
Hmmm...
Welllll,
it was only a matter of time before the smoking hot wheels of my brain started turning. Being the genius that I am, an incredibly innovative idea was born, thanks to my cranial acuity!!!
What?
Too theatrical?
Mmmkay.
Taking it down a notch.
Back to the Calgone moment.
Ahhh.
If you are a voracious reader, such as myself, you would have noticed I didn't have a book or Kindle in my hand, while at the pool. When you are trying to relax by the pool, or soak in the tub, a book makes it that much mucher.
But who wants to risk getting their book or Kindle wet?
Not me.
My solution for books is to only use cheap/garage sale books for pool-side/bath time reading, or stick with (freebie/garage sale acquired) magazines. That way, if you get them wet, it won't be a big deal. Simple enough, right? :)
Soooooo, what about the Kindle? That's certainly not a cheap bath toy. I'm positive I'd cry if I dropped it in the water. I'm also positive my Calgone moment would be ruined. Like, ruined.
Never fear!
I've got your solution right here, and it's inside your kitchen. :)
Step 1:
Seal Kindle inside a Ziploc bag.
(I recommend the clear ones, but all I had were blue.)
Step 2:
Fold the bag behind the device.
Step 3:
Read without worry.
Read without worry.
Enjoy your "waterproof" Kindle!
*DISCLAIMER*
I cannot guarantee that your Kindle will be 100% safe if you submerge it in the bag, under water, for a long period of time. Also, if there is a hole in the bag, or it isn't sealed properly, you are going to have a serious problem. Make sure that your bag is sealed and sound. If so, it should keep your Kindle dry when/if it is accidentally dropped into the tub. I haven't tested this poolside yet, so I would caution against leaving a Kindle inside a sealed bag, in the heat, for a prolonged period of time. I am not sure if condensation would build up inside the bag. When I try this by the pool, I will be wrapping my unused Kindle inside a hand towel before storing it inside the Ziploc. This way, I feel it would be protected from splashes and condensation while I'm swimming. When ready to read, I'll pull the towel off and reseal the bag. Again, I haven't tested this theory in the heat yet, so try at your own discretion.
ENJOY!
Cheering you on & checking the fuel gauge,
Layla
P.S. I still owe you an update on our Mother's Day trip. I plan on doing that this week. See ya soon!

Okay, I might think you are a Kindle addict. But since my pool time means chasing after a toddler and keeping her from drowning, any idea of reading at the pool is so preposterous to me. But I agree the kindle is not a bath tub toy. I am sure that were my daughter to decide to bath mine, she would not put it in a bag first.
ReplyDeleteYeah, toddlers = no bath time for mom, no sitting for mom, no eating for mom, no resting for mom, no peaceful shopping for mom, no reading for mom, no delicate appliances for mom...
ReplyDelete...this is why I am glad the toddler years are behind me! Ha! I'm too old and broken down for all of that. Even so, the toddler years are precious, and I have days where I wish that I could turn back time. Until, that is, I want to sit by the pool and read my Kindle. LOL Tate is still at the age where I have to watch him closely, so that is the reason why I haven't done any poolside reading yet. I plan on sneaking out there one evening, when Brian can watch him for me. It's free mommy time, and I'm all for FREE.
