Jot it Down Tuesdays (A little something I am trying to get into the habit of doing.)

Just Write--The EO

Join the FUN!

(Here is my first try, if you wanna check it out: http://flattiredhomeschool.blogspot.com/2011/09/non-sensejust-write-eo.html

This is my second try. I wrote it in about five minutes. After my five minutes were up, I did allow extra time for grammar checks and photos. I made these rules for myself, but there are no set rules...you can make, or break, your own. That is the FUN of it! I am one of those people who will tweak a paragraph to death, so I had to set a time limit on my writing. You may not want to do that. The point is to enjoy this little exercise and, hopefully, carve out some time in your week to write.
Keep it real. Keep it simple. Just write whatever pops into your head.

Ready,
Set,
GO!

The flowers in my garden are bending, as if to brace themselves for Fall's chilly fingers.

Soon their tender roots will be choked out by the cold, yet they gracefully fade into this new season. Folding their petals, they allow their leaves to flutter around in dizzy circles. The new season requires rest, and only the sturdiest will survive.

I wonder what I could learn from these delicate reminders of things gone, and things to come?

Each plant bows in silent prayer to its Creator.
They never try to hold on to seasons past.
Why should I?

(I think we made some nice imprints into Summer's memory, wouldn't you agree?)

P.S. If you gave this a try, would you be so kind as to share it with me? Don't forget to send it to the The Extraordinary Ordinary too: http://extraordinary-ordinary.net/2011/09/10/just-write/#comment-120853

Happy writing!!!

Cheering you on & checking the fuel gauge,
Layla

  1. I love this. And then I went to the link, and I loved those posts too. Oh my. Great writing. I wonder... could I do this? (Well, I guess I have 'til next Tuesday to decide.)

  2. Crafty Cristy, yes...yes you can! Give it a try. It's a great excuse to write completely random non-sense. Haha! Some people write funny things, some write poetry, it's nice to have an excuse to loosen up and write without the pressure of guidelines. You don't even have to check the spelling, or grammar, if you don't want to. Just enjoy it. :)

  3. Thank you, Wendy. I changed a couple of words when I corrected the spelling/grammar. I really did try to keep the piece intact from my five minute guideline though. I pondered what I would write about, while I weeded the garden. Give it a try. I have no doubt you can write something great. Remember, you don't have to time yourself...no rules. :) Just write!
