Manic Monday/Girls' Night Out

When Lindsey sees that I posted this photo, I am dead meat.

I think I did some pretty good photo editing, considering it was dark outside. We won't discuss the physical blindness that my flash caused us, or the wash-out it did on the photo.
We'll just concentrate on the obvious...

...FUN!

Last week, the Manic Monday subject was fighting burn-out. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a home school mom, or a mom at all, you are going to hit the wall at some point. So, I decided to test out a spontaneous Girls' Night Out theory. (Dare I even challenge two busy schedules with the word "spontaneous?") I saw an opportunity, and it worked out at the last minute. I was over the moon! We all know it is nothing short of a miracle to get two moms to sync up their schedules at the last minute.

Oh, God is SO GOOD!

There are a lot of layers as to why this evening was so special to me, but I will spare you the details. I just want you to know this: Even if it is last minute, PLAN A GIRLS' NIGHT OUT SOON! Let that little notion sink deep down into your noggin, making it's way past the thoughts of laundry, dinner, bills, homework, deadlines, etc.. Let it wiggle it's way into your schedule. Ten years from now, you won't care about the folded towels, or the clean windows, but you will recall those precious moments spent with friends. By allowing yourself this time, you'll discover that you are still in there, under the clutter, school work, and shopping lists. Your friend may have to pull you out, but you are still there.

If you do Girls' Night Out right,

you will go to bed smiling like the Cheshire cat, because you felt a little like Alice in Wonderland.

Every girl needs an adventure.

That's the kind of soul food a momma needs to make it through to the next Manic Monday. I think this one will actually hold me a bit longer than that. ;)

Cheering you on & checking the fuel gauge,
Layla

  1. I might have to just settle for a boys night out. It's hard to coordinate all the guys – and it might be impossible – but because of this I'll give it a try – because Cheshire cat grins are hard to find. But I will say this – all the joy in this post – it made me smile. God bless and keep you Layla - and God bless all of yours.

  2. I am so happy that this made you *smile*! You are such a joyful person Craig. ;) If you have a hard time getting all the guys together, just invite one friend. That's all it takes to initiate "Operation Get Out of the House." It's totally worth it. I only spent $10 that night. I could have spent more, but I was a bit broke from the kiddos' birthdays (all in a row). That, however, just proves my point even more! You don't need a wad of cash to have fun. You just need a kindred spirit, and some time set aside. :) God bless you too, friend.

P.S. I have a lot of catching up to do on your blogs. Our home is currently on the market, so we have been busy, busy.
